This original pastel was inspired by the wild horses of Teddy Roosevelt National Park. These two were in a band of bachelors and as the younger grey approached the older roan, the roan swung his head around, almost aggressively, to make sure who he was dealing with. The roan had a magnificent mane, which shone like silver in the sun.
"The Circle" was included in the 2010 Juried Exhibit of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies.
